India tests missile capable of hitting Beijing
LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) — India announced Thursday a successful test launch of the Agni-V missile, capable of carrying a nuclear payload, with reports saying the weapon is India’s first that could strike Beijing and Shanghai. “India has emerged from this launch as a major missile power,” the Associated Press quoted Indian defense-research chief Vijay Saraswat as saying following the Thursday morning launch. The Agni-V has a 5,000-kilometer (3,100-mile) range, compared to its previous longest-range missile’s 3,500-kilometer reach, the AP reported.
